How do I collect job postings data for labor market or salary research?
Collect it from Google Jobs, which gathers postings from LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor and thousands of company career pages in one place. Our Google Jobs Scraper turns a search like "data analyst in Chicago" into one row per job with title, company, location, salary when shown, job type, posting date, full description and every apply link. It costs $2 per 1,000 jobs.
What data you can get
- Job title, company, location and whether it's remote
- Salary range when the posting shows one, and employment type (full-time, part-time, contract)
- When it was posted (past day, week or month filters)
- The full description, plus qualifications, responsibilities and benefits as lists
- Every site you can apply on, with links, and Google's job id to remove duplicates
Your options
- Government statistics: reliable for trends, but published with a delay and not at the level of single postings.
- Job board APIs: most big job boards don't offer open APIs for research.
- Buy a dataset: labor-market data companies sell postings data, usually on yearly contracts.
- Scrape Google Jobs: one search covers many boards at once, you choose the roles and places, and you pay per job.
How to do it
- Open Google Jobs Scraper on Apify and enter one or more job titles and locations.
- Pick how recent the jobs should be and the maximum number of jobs.
- Press Start. Most runs finish in 1 to 4 minutes. Download as Excel, CSV or JSON.
- For a time series, schedule a daily "past 24 hours" run and remove duplicates by job id.
Research ideas
- Salary benchmarks: median advertised pay by role and city, using postings that show a range.
- Skills demand: count how often skills or tools appear in descriptions over time.
- Remote work share: the share of postings marked remote, by role or region.
- Hiring signals: which companies post the most roles in a city or field.
What it costs
100 jobs cost $0.20, 1,000 jobs cost $2. You only pay for unique jobs saved. Apify's free plan includes $5 of usage a month, about 2,500 jobs.
Questions
Does it include LinkedIn and Indeed jobs?
Yes, as far as Google Jobs lists them, with apply links on those sites. It reads public Google Jobs results; it isn't an official API of those sites.
Which countries work?
In our tests it worked in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil, India, Singapore, the UAE, South Africa, Italy, Mexico, Japan and Switzerland.
How many jobs can one search return?
Google shows about 10 jobs per search, so the tool runs variations of your search to find more. Broader keywords and more locations give more jobs.
Do all postings have salaries?
No. Only postings where Google shows a pay range. Many US postings do, because several states require pay ranges in job ads.
